On Saturday 30th April 2011, 15 year old – Brad Binder – made South African history when he became the first South African to achieve victory and stand tall and proud with the “new” South African Flag (first flown on the 10th May 1994) flying on the Moto GP Podium.
Brad loves Estoril and was “super confident” going into Round 2 of the Red Bull Moto GP Rookies Cup. Free practise went well and Brad was fastest by a second. Qualifying was in the pouring rain, one of the Rookies was struck by lightning and two others blacked out for a couple of seconds resulting in the session being red flagged.
